Arshad Warsi Raises Lone Voice In Bollywood Against Modi's Note Ban
While most of the filmi fraternity was busy taking selfies with the new pink currency, Arshad Warsi took to Twitter to speak out against PM Modi's demonetization move
The demonetization of the currency notes for 500 and 1000 rupees was a surprise move by Narendra Modi, touted as a "surgical strike" against black money.
The decision created many trending hashtags on Twitter and everyone weighed in on social media, including Bollywood. The fraternity, including Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan lauded the move. (Bollywood Reacts To Narendra Modi's Ban Of Rs 500 & Rs 1000 Notes, Nov 8)
But now a lone voice from B-town has spoken out against it. It is none other than funny man Arshad Warsi.
The comedian got serious on Twitter today as he tweeted to the Prime Minister, branding the move just an excuse for the Economic Offences Wing to take hard-earned money out of people's hands.
Arshad tweeted: "A fraudulent company is allowed to do business by the Govt & the innocent tax Payer has to pay the price. Where is the justice? (sic)"
"EOW takes my hard-earned, TAX PAID income from bank account and I cannot do anything about it( sic)," added Arshad.
The punchline was this tweet: Sir please enjoy your chair but please stop using the honest TAX payers as your foot rest.
The tweets soon caught the eye of the twitterati and became a hot topic. So will Arshad Warsi be the next trending topic after #NoteBan?
